All family physicians working in the Department of Family Medicine are experienced clinicians as well as teachers at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. Our family physicians provide supervision to residents.
The Department provides a comprehensive, holistic, and continuous care to patients and their family members. Family physicians can assume responsibility for the total health care needs of the individual and family, including medical, mental, social, and behavioral issues.

RESEARCH

The research is performed in the Department of Family Medicine since its establishment especially in the last decade. All researchers of our Department are involved in clinical practice, majority of them – in education. This mix of experiences has favorable impact on the character of the research performed in the Department.

The main research areas:

  • Assessment of teamwork and interdisciplinarity in health care
  • Assessment of confidentiality issues in adolescent health care
  • Assessment of potential to improve the prevention and management of chronic diseases in primary healthcare

  • the communication with the patients and the assessments of their needs
  • the organization principles and quality of primary health care services
  • the evaluation of quality in educational process

  • Home visits are registered by phone (working days) 08:00 - 13:00
